Eligibility
- Currently enrolled in eight grade in 2025-2026
- Successful completion of Algebra 1 by the end of 8th grade
- Domiciled in Morris County at time of application (a domiciled address is listed on the Federal tax return and driver’s license)
Criteria
- Average of ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies grades from 7th grade
- One Middle School Teacher Recommendation
- Video submission
- Grade 7 NJSLA ELA score OR ELA admissions test for those w/o NJSLA score
- Math placement test (Accuplacer QAS)

Additional Testing Information
- Testing dates are selected from those available when submitting the application
- Each placement test takes approximately one hour

What to expect after submitting an application
- Remember to check your application status & update on the application dashboard
- All communication will be via email using the email address used to create the application account
- Those that will not advance will receive notice in mid-January
- Remaining qualified applicants will be selected using an independently supervised random selection process
- Accepted and waitlisted students will be notified mid-January
- Students will be accepted from the waitlist until the mandatory summer program begins
- Please note that MSE does not take sibling preference into account
