Model Congress is a leadership component of the MHRD Gifted & Talented Program. The purpose of this seminar is to empower students to be well-informed and engaged citizens who understand the legislative process and public policy. Over the course of the year, delegates will declare their political party, research and write their own bills, participate in one of the committees for the Senate or House of Representatives, and simulate what it looks like to pass legislation. Thus, participants develop writing, public speaking, debate, and leadership skills. A teacher nomination is required. Reach out to the moderator for more information.
